Momento Mori Wines are a small-scale winery run by New Zealander Dane Jons and his wife Hannah. Their own small farm is managed according to strict organic principles, and they also source high-quality fruit from like-minded growers throughout Victoria, who also strive for sustainable and natural farming practices. All of their hand-made wines are made using small ferments, wild yeast, no oak, no mechanical pumps, no fining, no filtration and no additions at any stage of winemaking or bottling.
Like the name suggests, Momento Mori 'Fistfull of Flowers' Orange wine is like drinking a fruity, fresh floral bouquet (in the very best way). The grapes are grown on the slopes of Mt Camel in Heathcote, Victoria and subjected to a long steady ferment in stainless steel with 3 weeks spent on the skins. It pours a very pretty, cloudy amber colour, and the aroma of spring florals and tropical fruit hit you as soon as you open it. Expect plenty of floral notes alongside perfumed stone fruits, pineapple, lychee, papaya, passion fruit and musk, with a fresh minerality and texture. It’s a very, very easy-drinking Natural Orange Wine.
